Mission

Each year, infectious diseases are responsible for approximately 17 million deaths. They are the number one cause of mortality in the world. With the growth of world travel, germs know no borders: we are all at risk.

True to the spirit which inspired its namesake, the Canadian Louis Pasteur Foundation is a non-profit organization, established in 1997, whose mission is to contribute to the improvement of public health in Canada and elsewhere in the world by increasing awareness of infectious, parasitic and immune system diseases.

The Canadian Louis Pasteur Foundation holds an annual fund-raising campaign, soliciting donations from private individuals and corporations, in order to support research programs, provide financial support for young researchers in Canada and abroad and promote scientific exchange.

The Canadian Louis Pasteur Foundation focuses on research on infectious diseases that impact human organs and on other scientific applications, such as drug testing, coronary disease detection, etc. To this end, the Canadian Louis Pasteur Foundation provides scholarships to Canadian students interested in continuing post-doctoral studies at the Pasteur Institute in Paris as well as to foreign students wishing to continue their post-doctoral studies in Canadian universities or laboratories.

Although the Canadian Louis Pasteur Foundation is headquartered in Montreal, its activities are Canada-wide; a second office is planned for Toronto in the near future.
